Panama, opponents take steps of unity against President Martinelli

Panamanian political and union leaders opposed to the government of Ricardo Martinelli agreed to unite to face the right-wing leader, facing a crisis in their ranks and a slump in the polls.
A diverse group of politicians, former officials, MPs, trade unionists and former activists against the dictatorship of Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega in the 80 attended a meeting on Thursday at the restaurant “Casa Angel” of the capital, which agreed to create a united front “in defense of democracy” in Panama. Read Article
