Miraflores, Peru: 21 Peruvians and 28 Colombians Arrested for Trafficking and Prostitution

On June 13, 2013 Peru 21 reported that police have arrested 21 Peruvian and 28 Colombian females during a raid on a nightclub and a hostel in the district of Miraflores. Police charged the suspects with the alleged crime of human trafficking and illegal prostitution.

Police first raided the club Tequila Rock, where Peruvian and foreign women propositioned clients for prostitution. They then raided the Pacífico hostel, located in the same district, where the prostitutes took their customers. There, authorities found condoms and agendas with the names and phone numbers of alleged contacts.

According to information provided by the police, 10 of the 28 Colombian women arrested were staying illegally in the country. They were admitted as tourists to Peru, but after their visa expired they decided to stay in the country to work as prostitutes. Read Article
