Mexico, 4 million vehicle accidents a year, major health problem

Road accidents are a major public health problem in Mexico. It is estimated that annually 4 million recorded mishaps of this kind, derived from them more than 300 000 hospitalizations and an estimated 40 thousand people are left with disabilities, said Arturo Cervantes Trejo, general manager of the National Council Accident Prevention (Cenapred). Cervantes Trejo noted that car crashes are directly linked to risky behaviors such as driving under the influence of alcohol, not wearing seat belts and infant carrier seats when traveling with children.Read Article
