Joint Police Operation in Quito, Bogotá and Cartagena Dismantles Human Trafficking Gang

On August 12, 2013 Universo Noticias reported the arrest of six trafficking suspects during a police operation in Quito. The suspects, which include both Indians and Colombians, are believed to belong to an international trafficking gang. Police also rescued 12 suspected victims of human trafficking during the raids on six homes and 4 commercial locations.

The police operation was simultaneously held in Bogotá and Cartagena, Colombia. According to the Attorney General and the Judicial Police, the international gang is suspected of trafficking persons from Ecuador to other countries, with a final destination in the United States. Read Article
