Posted on March 4, 2012 • Filed under: Agriculture, Jamaica

The Police High Command says it will be working more closely with the Ministry of Agriculture in an effort to stem the incidence of farm theft across the island. Against that background the high command says the police will be playing a vital role in the ministry’s praedial larceny strategy. The strategy will be overseen by a Praedial Larceny Coordinator who will be responsible for facilitating the interaction between farmers, vendors and the police.
Under the programme the receipt book system will also be re−launched and the laws governing praedial larceny strengthened. Farmers will also be able to register for the programme and have meetings at police stations in their area.
A police officer will also be assigned to the abattoir on the scheduled slaughter days. Read Article
