Guayaquil Ecuador: ambulance driver victim of kidnap express, assaulted and robbed

A driver reported to authorities that while driving an ambulance for Omni Hospital he was assaulted and robbed by unknown individuals according to eluniverso.com. The express kidnapping happend at 16:30 hours last Friday when the driver was in the area of Avenida Americas, near the convention center. A gray vehicle intercepted the ambulance and at gunpoint the victim was ordered into another vehicle which also had several other occupants. He was driving to the Mapasingue sector where another individual was picked up and then drving to Chongón. While in route, the robbers took checks worth about 2300 dollars and nearly 6000 dollars in cash. He reported that the checks and cash belonged to the hospital.
