Ecuador: Rice farmers doubt reliability of seed certification

In Ecuador, rice is one of the main food of the family budget. However, it is less technically crop, and that approximately 80% of the planted area is in the hands of small producers who have no training or appropriate credit lines to invest in their crops.

One reason for that low technology is the low consumption of certified seed, explains Gelacio Bazante, manager of the South Coast experimental farm of the National Institute of Agricultural Research (Iniap). Read Article
