Ecuador: 135 confirmed Zika cases, nine are pregnant

elcomercio.com reported a total of 135 people, nine of them pregnant, are infected by the virus Zika in Ecuador, according to a report issued today by the Ministry of Health, who notes that there are 217 suspected cases. The greatest number of infected is reported in Manabi (48) and Esmeraldas (20), the provinces most affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that devastated several areas of the north coast of the Andean country last April 16. According to the report by the Ministry in the province of Esmeraldas, its eponymous capital concentrates the twenty cases, while in Manabi, there are infected in Jaramijó (1), Manta (7), Montecristi (1) Pedernales (1), Portoviejo (37) and Rocafuerte (1).
