Ecuador: 39,000 plus individuals living with HIV

elcomercio.com – The International Day of Fight against AIDS is remembered today, December 1, 2017, as every year. In Ecuador , 39 224 people live with this disease, according to the Ministry of Health . In 1984, the first case was reported in the country.

According to the Global Burden of Disease study, carried out by the Institute for the Measurement and Evaluation of Health of the University of Washington, in the US, Ecuador is among the five countries in Latin America with more HIV infections in the period 2005-2015. That according to a note from the BBC. First, there is Argentina with 7.8% of new cases per year. It is followed by Paraguay , Bolivia , Colombia with percentages ranging between 4.9 and 4.6%.
