Brazil, bill passes to finance bullet train, Rio to San Paulo

The House of Representatives approved Tuesday a bill that authorizes the federal government, through the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social (BNDES) to finance up to $ 20 billion high-speed rail linking Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paul. The bill passed with votes from the ruling group, which imposed most of the opposition and left the final decision in the hands of the Senate, which consider the matter from next week. Read Article
