Ecuador: New Law Changes Day Some Holidays Fall On through 2020

elcomercio.com reported the National Assembly passed the new Law on Public Holidays which provides, inter alia, the transfer of the holidays that coincide with a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) or a weekday (Tuesday, Wednesday And Thursday) to Monday or Friday. The law will apply to the Christmas break and end of 2016. So this year, holidays of December 25 and January 1, 2016 , which fall into Sunday- moved to Monday December 26 and January 2 respectively. Another holiday date during 2017 will be amended law will be that of the Battle of Pichincha (Wednesday 24 May) will happen to Friday 26 March. On the other hand, the day of rest by the First Cry of Independence (Thursday 10 August) will be on Friday 11. Out of these, there would be no changes in the dates 2017 furlough.
