April 14, 2014: Tungurahua Volcano emits strong explosion, ash

telegrafo.com.ec reported that Tungurahua volcano emitted a strong explosion at 8:30am April 14, 2014. According to the Secretariat of Risk Management, the explosion is the strongest sound-wise to date of the latest eruptive process. It was heard in Ambato and the vibration broke windows in Cúsua, Chacauco, Cotaló and Pelileo. The ash column rose to a height of 5 km. Fine gravel 2mm in diameter fell in Pillate. Read Article
