Tungurahua Province Ecuador: So Far in 2017, 28 recorded suicides

elcomercio.com reported that to date in 2017, there have been reported 28 suicides in Tungurahua Province. A recent case involved a man who hung himself in the carpentrey shop where he worked. His wife had left him.

The governor of Tungurahua, Juan DeHowitt and the Queen of Ambato, María Custode are restarting a suicide prevention campaign. Called “Minga por la Vida.” there will be holiday camps for children that will include talks on drug use, domestic violence and suicide. A campaign will also be conducted at schools.Psychologists and other specialists will be present. Read Article
