Study indicates Argentina in slowdown, recession looms

The chances that Argentina’s economy will enter a recession in the near term jumped above 85% in the closely followed monthly leading indicator published by Torcuato Di Tella University.

The odds of a recession in its February report rose from 65% in January. UTDT, as the university is known, noted the odds of a recession have held above 50% for six straight months.

“The results of the latest survey suggest that the slowdown in economic activity will continue in the coming months,” UTDT said in its February report, which was issued yesterday with economic data from that month. Read Article
