The National Emergency Office of Chile announced today that at least 6 counties in south central of the country, remains on red alert by the magnitude of forest fires in these places. The drought has affected Chile in the last 3 years and the heat wave currently being registered fosters a situation of extreme vulnerability in fire. The director of Forestry Corporation, Edward Road, said it will normally be lost each year in the country to 50 000 hectares as a result of fire, but this time, missing month and a half of high temperatures, have already destroyed 60 000 hectares.
