Sarandí, Argentina: 16 Arrested for Drug Sales and Possession of Weapons

Info-region reported on May 16, 2013 that 16 people were arrested in Barrio 7 de Enero in the city of Sarandí in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Charges included, selling of drugs, theft, and possession of a military weapon. Authorities seized 9 .32 caliber revolvers, a 9mm pistol, a .45 caliber pistol, and a homemade shotgun, known as a “tumbera”. In addition, the officers seized 10 chalks of cocaine, 2.3 kilos of marijuana, two precision scales, 6,600 pesos, and a bulletproof vest. The arrested will be prosecuted by attorney Alejandro Rojas.
