São Paulo, Brazil, Cops Will Check for Marijuana, Cocaine Use

On February 8, 2013, O Estado de São Paulo reported that between Friday and Tuesday of next week, police throughout the state of São Paulo will be conducting blitzes in order to enforce the Lei Seca.  Aside from performing breathalyzer tests to catch drunk drivers, police will also have devices to test for marijuana and cocaine use.  Users caught with any quantity of drugs (besides alcohol) could face six months to three years in prison and could face fines of up to R$1,915.  Police will also be using video cameras in the capital to catch license plates.  Read Article
