Santiago, Chile: Police Seize 25 Kilos of Cocaine, Dismantle Drug Ring

From Terra on August 28, 2013- More than 25 kilos of cocaine, valued around 500 million pesos, were seized by authorities in Santiago. The drugs were to be sold in the capital during the long weekend around Independence Day. The drug ring was being operated from prison by Omar Tormo, who is serving 15 years. The drugs entered the country via the border with Peru and traveled to Arica and then to Cajón del Maipo. Police conducted raids in both Arica and Santiago which resulted in the seizure of the cocaine, two vehicles, marijuana, precursor chemicals, and five arrests. Read Article
