Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic: 7 Trafficking Victims Rescued from Night Clubs

On August 13, 2013 El Día Noticias reported that police rescued 10 females during raids on several night clubs, including three minors found consuming alcoholic beverages and seven women who were allegedly being forced into prostitution. 10 trafficking suspects were also arrested during the operation. Among those arrested were the owner of the dance club “Discoteca El Toro,” Jean Michel Elie, club manager Nelson De La Cruz Salazar, and disc jockey Daniel Enrique José Garay. During the raids, police also found several items of interest to the investigation, including condoms, laptops, cell phones, and proof of payment receipts for sexual services. Read Article
