Project to repair traffic lights in Asunción Paraguay

Old, broken and faulty traffic lights in the capital city of Asunción are the cause of accidents for hundreds of motorists, according to abc.com.py. Of the 180 traffic light intersections in the city, 56 of those are more than 30 years old. At some intersections the lights just don’t work, and it is left to the drivers to determine who has the right away. City officials have agreed to install new traffic lights at 80 intersections, a project that will cost an estimated 2.5 million guaraní. Equipment for 20 intersections arrived this morning and the rest of the resources will arrive Friday.
