Policemen Arrested in Manaus, Brazil, Charged with Drug Trafficking

On February 28, 2013, A Crítica reported that nine policemen in Manaus, the state capital of Amazonas, were arrested this morning for suspected involvement in a drug trafficking scheme.  The policemen are accused of aiding and abetting a string of drug traffickers throughout the north and west zones of the city, as well as re-selling drugs taken from other traffickers in the city and dealing them to other drug gangs.  The policemen have been relieved of their positions; in addition, they face drug trafficking as well as active and passive corruption charges.  Read Article
