Police Seize 400 Kilograms of Cocaine Base in São Paulo State

On February 7, 2013, O Estado de São Paulo reported that police seized some 400 kilograms of cocaine base in the town of Porto Feliz, Sorocaba region, en route to Brazil from Paraguay.  The traffickers were using a twin-engine plane when the aircraft crashed in a sugar plantation.  The suspects attempted to flee with some briefcases, but one was quickly apprehended by Federal Police.  The others are still on the loose.  The drugs could have been distributed throughout the state, most likely to the capital city of São Paulo.  The cocaine base had the capabilities to make close to one ton of cocaine powder.  Read Article
