Police in Paraná, Brazil, Seize 236 Birds in House, Charge Owner

On January 26, 2013, Paraná State Police reported that the state’s Environmental Unit charged and fined a man about R$115,000 for keeping 236 wild and exotic birds in his house without documentation or proper treatment.  The crime occurred in the state capital of Curitiba.  The man stated that he was only keeping the birds to breed them.  When police entered the residence in the morning on the 26th, they discovered the place abandoned, and the birds were still held in captivity.  Read Article
