Paine, Chile: Carabineros Thwarts Drug Trafficking Network

From Terra on June 25, 2013- An anonymous phone call allowed officers of the national police (Carabineros) to dismantle a local drug network and seize 2 kilos 800 grams of cocaine. Authorities detained four men, Ivan Pino Ricardo Leiva, Juan Pablo Vergara Toro, Waldo Marcelo Morales Godoy, and Alfredo Arturo Guerra Serrano. The phone call led police to a residence on Grand Avenida, Block 164, apartment 303. There the first three suspects left the apartment and were pursued by the police. In the car authorities found a nylon bag containing the cocaine. After arresting the three men in the car, the police returned to the residence and arrested the fourth man. When asked about the ownership and origin of the drugs, they refused to answer. Authorities seized 2 kilos 800 grams of cocaine valued at 25 million 200 thousand pesos, a car without plates, five mobile phones, a digital scale, a plastic container, and 24 thousand 890 pesos in cash.
