Mexico: Sex Trafficker Sentenced to 10 Years Prison

A judge from the East Detention Center in the Federal District has sentenced Lino Flores Merino to 10 years and three months in prison for forcing a young woman into prostitution in Cuauhtémoc. The Attorney General for the Federal District also stated that Lino Flores Merino had been found guilty of trafficking in persons, for which he must pay an additional fine of $623,300 Mexican pesos.

According to the investigation, the victim met Flores Merino in the city of Puebla and was persuaded to move with him to Mexico City after they began dating. After the victim moved to Mexico City, she was forced into prostitution at a hotel in Cuauhtemoc. The victim later reported Flores Menino to authorities, where he was caught by police investigators and handed over to the appropriate authorities. Read Article
