Mexico: Domestic Violence Primary Cause of Women’s Injuries

Hoy Veracruz reports:
• Domestic violence is the number one cause of injury among Mexican women, over injuries sustained in robberies, accidents and rapes
• Six of every ten women in Mexico have been subjected to some type of violence; in some cases, the assaults are fatal
• In 2005, an estimated 2,159 women died of injuries caused by domestic abuse – a low estimate, as many cases go unreported
