Mexico: Dengue Vaccine Tested in Eastern Yucatan

One thousand children and adolescents in the towns of Valladolid and Tizimín will be vaccinated this month with a new drug that is purported to immunize against dengue, SIPSE reports. The vaccine is administered in three parts over the course of one year; the first dose will be given this week to 500 children between the ages of 9 and 16 in each town. The vaccine is being developed by a private corporation, which contacted 45,000 volunteers in 15 countries affected by the disease to conduct clinical trials.
