Legislative Assembly urged to criminalize femicide in Mexico City

Mexico City’s Human Rights Commission (CDHDF) and civil society organizations are urging the Legislative Assembly to vote in a special session to establish legal provisions criminalizing femicide in Mexico City, as reported by El Mexicano. María de la Luz Estrada, from the National Citizens’ Observatory for Femicide (OCNF), called for reforms under the General Law on Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence. The OCNF has petitioned Mexico City’s Head of Government and General Attorney of Justice to sign an agreement establishing a special investigative unit and public registry of crimes committed against women.
