ElUniverso.com reports that many “clinics” that offer a cure to homosexuality actually participate in the abuse and mistreatment of individuals under their care. This past Wednesday, June 22nd, Paola spoke in front of about 70 people in Quito describing her experience being taken from her home to one of these “clinics.” In many cases including Paola’s, women are abused and sexually abused by men who run the clinic, reports El Universo. Cordero says that the Ecuadorian Constitution protects sexual orientation and gender identity, but it fails to protect the homosexuals being abused. Officials say that there are more than 90% rehabilitation centers for addicts that do not have permission for services.Read Article
