CAMPAIGN BEGINS Influenza Vaccination
Cuenca Ecuador – Flu Season Runs October and runs through April

This vaccination campaign focuses on four groups at highest risk for serious complications from influenza: children six months to four years, aged 18 to 23 years, pregnant women over 18 years old, adults over 65 and people suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, among others according to lavozdelriotarqui.com.

Janet Crespo, head of the expanded immunization program of the Health of Azuay, said that the province aims to reach 168,027 people vaccination.

The campaign will run until 30 November and aims to reduce by 60 percent the chance of getting the disease.
Crespo said the vaccine protects against most common viruses circulating in the environment, however, “this does not mean complete immunity to the disease,” he said.

According to the official, the seasonal flu occurs every year in October and runs through April, both on the coast and in the highlands. The launch of the vaccination campaign against influenza will be held today at 09:00 in the Health Area One with the presence of Health Minister Carina Vance. Read Article
