Ecuador Signs Multilateral Social Security Agreement

Anedes.info.ec reports that Ecuador signed a Multilateral Ibero-American Agreement on Social Security on Monday in Madrid, Spain. The agreement concentrates on guaranteeing equal treatment and future pension for workers in the participating countries. According the article, the agreement arose from the need to protect individual rights of the millions of migrant workers and their families abroad. The agreement incorporates respecting existing national legislations on social security and covers all character benefits such as invalidity, old age and work accidents. However it excludes medical benefits and victims of war. Ecuador is the fourth Ibero State to sign the agreement, after Bolivia, Brazil and Spain.Read Article
