Ecuador, shortage of specialists in public hospitals

The lack of specialists in public hospitals in the country is not resolved, while the risk remains that doctors give up their seats for the eight-hour workday.

Nine professionals already decided to retire this level of Hospital Baca Ortiz and three Enrique Garcés Hospital in Quito, for example.

According to the College of Physicians, will need more than 5,000 professionals nationwide. “It is a pitiful reality that comes from 2000, when it suspended postgraduate and specialization in universities,” said Victor Alvarez, president of the organization.
