Ecuador: Report states despite lower homicide rates in 2011, insecurity increasing

In Ecuador, insecurity is still a pending issue that the government has with citizens, according to a study by the Human Rights Program of the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (UASB).

The Human Rights Report of the UASB also noted that the number of homicides / murders fell in 2011 compared to 2010 from 2,627 to 2,345, figures similar to those handled by the National Directorate of Judicial Police and Investigation, in its publication ‘Survey Homicide in Ecuador ‘in 2638 listed in 2010 and 2011, 2345.
