The Minister of Social Development Coordinator in Ecuador, Doris Soliz, today accused “certain media” to become informants on political opponents of the government and reiterated that freedom of expression does not justify lying. “The case of El Universo is the tip of the iceberg of a whole system, in which the media have gone out of their real responsibility is to inform, to play a role of political opponents, something that is not theirs” said the minister.
“In the country there is no restriction on freedom of expression. This process (from The Universe) has revealed that the right of free speech is not about the right of personal honor, of citizens,” he said in an interview television. Read Article Spanish
