Ecuador: Military destroys coca plantations near Cuyabeno National Park

Four hectares planted with coca plant were found in Brisas del Cuyabeno Sucumbios, during a patrol of the Army, on Thursday. Yesterday, officials of the Jungle Brigade 19 Napo, criminology and police officers were mobilized to narcotics there. Fifty soldiers guarded the premises, in a sector near the Cuyabeno Nature Reserve. Is there a risk that these crops away from the border and penetrate deeper into the country? 1. Increase in bus robberies in Sansahuari near Cuyabeno.
2. February 6, 2012, tourists attacked and robbed in lagoons of Cuyabeno National Park.
3. A shack on one of the plantations – weapons were discovered.
4. In the shack t-shirts were uncovered that are color of the Ecuadorian military.
