Ecuador: Leftist Political Party to ally itself with Right Wing Groups

tELESURTV.NET reported Pachakutik, which self-identifies as a leftist political party, is set to join an alliance of right-wing parties. Ecuador’s Pachakutik political party is set to join a right-wing political coalition, the prefect of the province of Azuay, Paul Carrasco, announced Monday on local radio.

Carrasco coordinates an informal right-wing coalition with the mayors of Ecuador’s largest cities, Mauricio Rodas of Quito and Jaime Nebot of Guayaquil.In the interview, Carrasco said that Pachakutik—which self-identifies as a leftist political party—will announce next Monday that it will join forces with the Social Christians, SUMA, and Together We Can—all of which are right-wing political parties.
