Ecuador: Dengue Fever aggressive in 2012

Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti is present in tropical and subtropical areas of the country. 70% of Ecuador has environmental conditions suitable for reproduction, but in winter the coastal provinces and the East are the most affected due to moisture. According to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health, until 23 February, the country had 1,840 people with dengue fever, 17 with serious and one fatality. The figures, according to the Ministry, are higher than those recorded in 2011 when there were 713 cases of classic, 6 severe and 1 died. Read Article
