Ecuador and China sign co-operation military defense agreement

janes.com reported Ecuador has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China relating to defence industrial co-operation; the latest in a series of agreements between the countries aimed to strengthening military and industrial ties.

The accord was signed in Ecuador on 16 August by Ecuadorian defence minister Ricardo Patino and Xu Zhanbin, China’s vice minister of the state administration of science, technology and industry for national defence.

Details of the accord were not disclosed.

The announcement came 24 hours after Ecuador said it had received materiel aid to assist efforts by the country’s military relating to reconstruction and humanitarian work following an earthquake in April this year. Read Article – Paid Subscription Required
