Ecuador: 17 percent of females between 15 and 19 are mothers

Over 17% of Ecuadorian youth between 15 and 19 are mothers, the second highest rate in Latin America, behind Venezuela, according to data released today by the Government, which has launched a campaign to reduce this figure by a quarter in two years. In 2010, the latest year for which official figures, 20% of births in the country was teenagers that age who gave birth to more than 60,600 children.
In addition, children between 10 and 14 years were about 1,100 children this year. Read Article
