Drug traffickers increasingly using young people to smuggle drugs into New Mexico, Texas

The drug trafficking organizations are increasingly using small groups of young people to transport their goods through the remote desert of Texas and New Mexico, federal agents said. Agents said that some of these young people who enter the country surreptitiously carry 50 pounds (23 kilos) of drugs for days, travel in groups of two to five members and evade capture quickly entering mountain canyons along the Texas-New Mexico , said Sunday the Las Cruces Sun-News. The area includes a cavernous maze of steep terrain where it is difficult to follow leads and instead it is easy for smugglers to hide. Read Article
