•When receiving ID cards, the indigenous peoples of Colombia are experiencing discrimination whether by giving them strange names or assuming that they cannot sign their name.
•According to El Espectador, names such as Tarzan or Gorila were assigned largely in the 60s and 90s when politicians registered large numbers of natives in order to obtain their votes.
•The politicians promised food and made other unfulfilled promises in exchange for their votes as described in the article by Prescila Padilla director of “Nacimos el 31 de diciembre”.
•Due to the fact that the indigenous people cannot understand when asked their name, the officials simply put a name such as Payaso (clown).
•Other kinds of discriminations include assuming that the individual cannot write sign their name because they are indigenous.
