Costa Rica: 4.5 earthquake recorded 09-08-12

Laprensa.com.ni reported an earthquake with 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale occurred on Saturday morning in Costa Rica, but without leaving damage or casualties, an official said.

The quake at 06:01 local time (12H01 GMT) was centered in Playa Buena Vista Nicoya, near where the earthquake occurred on Wednesday of 7.6 degrees, reported the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica ( OVSICORI). OVSICORI said the depth of the quake on Saturday was 5 km.

Wednesday’s earthquake occurred in the Nicoya Peninsula, 203 km north of the capital. The damage occurred in roads, housing, hospitals, schools and churches, especially in Guanacaste, but also in Puntarenas.

The latest report from the National Emergency Commission (CNE) estimated that 230 homes were damaged. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport valued at approximately $ 6 million replacement of damaged roads and bridges. Read Article
