Colombia advances coal rail project

The Colombian government has opened an international bidding process on a rail project that could facilitate 6mn metric tonnes/yr of coal shipments by 2013. The project includes construction of the Carare railway and rehabilitation of the existing Central railway into one line, the Carare railway’s general manager told Argus today. The government aims to grant the large international concession next year that will require as much as $1.5bn in investment, said Jose Gabriel Taboada, general manager of Corpocarare. Read Article
