Colombia: Acid Attacks increasing against women and men

aljazeera.com reported more than 100 cases were reported last year in the South American country and nearly 1,000 in the past decade. Per capita, the country has one of the highest rates of acid attacks in the world, says Jaf Shah, ASTI’s executive director.

The attacks in Colombia affect men and women: Of the 926 victims of acid throwing from 2004 to 2014, 565 were women, and 361 were men, according to a recent study by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. Read Article
