Chile: 5000 students expelled for involvement 2011 protests, demonstrations planned for March 15, 2012

The spokesman of the National Coordinator of Secondary Students, Rodrigo Rivera, reported today that at least five thousand young Chileans were expelled for taking part in protests last year. Rivera, who announced a demonstration on March 15 and pulled the student movement in 2012, urged the government to ensure enrollment of all students from the high school level. No one should suffer retaliation for having participated in the student movement, said Rivera, who also gave notice to the Minister of Industry, Harald Beyer, not to ignore the numerous cancellations of enrollment.
