Chikungunya Virus case Guayaquil Ecuador

ALERT:
1. Health authorities reported that there is a confirmed case of Chikungunya Virus – Guayaquil. The victim is a female who traveled to Colombia.

To date there have been seven confirmed imported cases of the virus. They have been in Loja, Pichincha, Tungurahua, Manabi, and Guayas provinces. There is one suspected case in Montecristi. The chikungunya virus is transmitted through the Aedes aegypti mosquito. this is the same type of mosquito that transmits dengue. Read Article
