Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay emerging consumer market for illegal drugs

The representative in Bolivia of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Peruvian Cesar Guedes, yesterday told the media that there is concern that after “being an emerging market,” America now accounts for 20% of consumption drugs worldwide, with a tendency to go up. Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, according to Guedes, “emerging” markets for the drug because they have “a strong economy and increased purchasing power,” becoming a new “grain” for drug traffickers.
