Brazil, 9 construction workers die in accident

Nine construction workers were killed early this morning when an elevator collapsed in the building they were working on in Iguatemi, a commercial district of Salvador, the capital city of Bahía, Brazil, according to abc.com.py. The workers were on the 20th floor when the cable snapped for unknown reasons. An engineer working at the construction site said the elevator was safe and had been used by workers everyday. Construction on the building has been suspended until the safety and working conditions are further examined.
