Authors of ‘Big Brother,’ Countersuit Correa for USD 400,000

According to ElComercio, the two journalists who were sued by President Rafael Correa for ‘moral damage’ filled a countersuit of USD 400,000 Tuesday June 14th. The government on The 28th of February sued AFP editor of Vanguardia magazine, Juan Carlos Calderon and Christian Zurita. The two collaborated on the book ‘Big Brother’ which was about a USD 170 million contract Correa’s government had with Correa’s brother Fabricio Correa. The president denied that he knew about the contract suing the journalists for dirtying his image. A countersuit is also being pursued against the former Minister of Housing and Urban Development for USD 500,000. The two journalists say the countersuit is for compensation against the persecution and insults by the president and his ministers.Read Article
