Authorities fail to control two week old riot in Caracas prison

CARACAS. Venezuelan authorities are still unable to control a riot that began two weeks ago in a prison in downtown Caracas, leaving far a dead man, a resident of the area by a stray bullet, and now has continued with several shootings in the place, and incidents in the vicinity.

The Minister for the Prison Service, Iris Varela, said today the state television channel VTV that a “situation of internal strife” in the prison of La Planta, with “a group that seeks to keep under most making use of the force of violence and force of arms.” Read Article
